Board Director (Nevis)

McLevon “Mackie” Tross was born and raised in Zetlands Gingerland Nevis; He attended the Gingerland Primary and secondary schools respectively and finished his Secondary education at the Charlestown Secondary School. Mr. Tross then moved on to The Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College in St.Kitts where he completed a City and Gills Certificate in Basic Mechanical Engineering.

In 1986 Mr. Tross then migrated to Canada to further his studies; By this time he became very interested in Electronics and Technology and pursued studies in that field at the DeVry Institute of Technology Toronto Campus. Mr. Tross Graduated from DeVry in July 1990 and was offered full time employment with Roxon Medi-Tech where he did his apprenticeship and worked as a Biomedical Engineer until he returned to Kitts-Nevis in January of 2000

On his return, Mr. Tross was employed by MacPennies Computers in St. Kitts as a manager until November 2001. After all efforts were exhausted to establish a joint venture in Nevis, Mr. Tross decided that he would undertake the venture and so A-1 Office Technology Ltd. was founded.

Mr. Tross grew up in Zetlands Estate with his mother and father and eight (8) siblings. A very loving and close knitted family. Although his father BOBO Tross was a Carpenter by trade, he was admired and praised for his farming ability and skills, which he passed on to his son Mackie. Mackie Tross took a keen interest in his father’s teachings. But it was not until 2010 that his skills of farming were established when he assisted his son Tej with an Agriculture Science Project.

To date, he has four state of the art Green Houses located at Hardtimes, Nevis with an approximate size of 4000 square feet each He plants, Sweet Peppers, Season Peppers, Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Lettuce, Herbs, Basils and leafy greens in the Greenhouses.

 

It was always the intention of Mr. Tross to return to Nevis and make a meaningful contribution to his country. In 2002 Mr. Tross served as a Biomed at the Alexandra Hospital a position that he held for two years.  Mr.  Tross has served as a Director for the Nevis Historical and Conservation Society; He has served for six years on the Board of Directors for the Nevis Cooperative Credit Union and was its Vice President for four years. He served for three years as the Chairperson for the Nevis Electricity Company NEVLEC.

Mr. Tross has lectured several courses on sustainable Agriculture; and has done numerous presentations on different aspects of Agriculture as well as Small Business Enterprises and Entrepreneurship. Mr. Mackie Tross is currently contracted by the FAO as a local consultant for St. Kitts and Nevis on the WEF “NEXUS” Sustainable Agriculture and Climate Change Project. He is a director for the National Caribbean Insurance Company Ltd.

Mr. Tross brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in many different disciplines; He is always willing to share his experiences and expertise.
